Residues from the zinc industry contain various metals which are crucial to enable green value chains in electric vehicles, and green batteries. We have identified an opportunity to recover metals including Zinc, Lead, Silver, Cadmium, battery metals (Cobalt and Nickel), Rare Earth metals, and Copper and many more from smelting residues.

Our Products

Zinc Sulphate

We are amongst the few players in India that can extract Zinc sulphate from Zinc smelting residue.


Automotive Casting & Galvanizing, Pharmaceutical, Alloying such as Brass and Semiconductors.

Copper Sulphate

Copper Sulphate is a by-product generated during removal of impurities from Zinc Sulphate.

  • An additive for extraction of Zinc & Lead from the mined ore (Referred to as Ore Beneficiation).
  • Fortification of food items
  • Additive for fertilizers
  • Several industrial applications such as textiles, batteries, paint & animal nutritional supplements.

Cadmium Sponge

It is a by-product of Zinc purification residue treatment during impurity removal stage.


Major applications of Cadmium include batteries, alloys, coatings (electroplating), and solar cells.

Cobalt Cake

Cobalt cake is generated during impurity cementation of Zinc purification residue treatment.


Unlocks further potential for use of Cobalt in Alloying (super alloys for parts in gas turbine aircraft engines, corrosion resistant alloys, high-speed steels, and cemented carbides), Magnets & magnetic recording media, catalysts for the petroleum and chemical industries & drying agents for paints and inks.

Lead Ingot

Copper dross generated from lead smelting is treated via pyro metallurgical technology to extract various metals such as Lead, Copper & Silver.


Car battries, pigments, ammunition, cable sheathing, weights for lifting, weight belts for diving, lead crystal glass, radiation protection and in some solders.

Copper Matte

Copper Matte is a complex compound comprising Copper (15-25%), Iron, Silver and Lead. It is one of the products generated through pyro metallurgical dross treatment in a rotary furnace.


It is processed to extract Copper, Lead & Silver which are then used to manufacture electrical equipment such as wiring and motors, construction (for example roofing and plumbing), and industrial machinery (such as heat exchangers), car batteries and jewellery.

Potassium Antimony Tartrate (PAT)

PAT is the product of Antimony dust treatment generated from silver refining. PAT is the very vital chemical being used in the purification section of Zinc smelting. We have a patented process for in-house chemical generation.


It is a useful product for development of anti-parasitic drug, tumour angiogenesis and growth inhibition in non-small-cell lung cancer.


Runaya has deeply invested in technology. The Company is willing to collaborate and work on opportunities to achieve operational excellence. Currently two kinds of technologies are used at our plants:

  • Pyro Metallurgy
  • Hydro Metallurgy
Pyro metallurgy consists of the thermal treatment of minerals and metallurgical ores and concentrates to bring about physical and chemical transformations in the materials to enable recovery of valuable metals. Copper dross generated from Lead smelting is treated using a rotary furnace to produce Lead Ingot & Copper Matte.
Hydro metallurgy involves the use of aqueous solutions for the recovery of metals from ores, concentrates, and recycled or residual materials. Based on this technology, Zinc purification residue and Copper Matte are processed to produce Zinc Sulphate, Copper Sulphate, Cadmium Sponge and Cobalt cake.
